What you'll do:

Ever wondered how to pipe fluffy buttercream borders and uniform swirls on top of your cake? In this class, we will learn how to make American buttercream, which consistency is ideal for piping and how to achieve beautiful bright colors.

We will go over 10 different designs, (and their variations) using only four piping tips.

What you'll need:

Food Items Checklist:

  • A blank, pre iced buttercream cake, in any size -or a cake board/parchment paper
  • 2lbs Powdered sugar
  • 1 cup softened unsalted butter
  • 1 cup vegetable shortening
  • 1/3 cup heavy cream
  • 1 TBSP pure vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • Pinch of salt
  • Gel colors of choice (if using) any additional decorations like sprinkles, flowers, etc. (optional)

Equipment:

  • Wilton piping tips no. 2D, 8B, 1M, 1A 5
  • 12inch piping bags
  • Small offset spatula
  • Paper towel for cleaning tips
  • Rubber spatula
  • If preparing buttercream during class, you will need stand mixer/hand mixer with a large bowl
