Design transfer sheets are templates that can be used to make royal icing decorations, frozen buttercream decorations, candy melts decorations, or a guide for shaping fondant decorations as a free hand tool. These decorative elements, once dried (or frozen in case of buttercream) then can be put on macarons, cupcakes, cookies, cakes, cake pops, cookie pops, Cakesicles and many other desserts to finish the theme look and feel. Huge time saver as well!
With help of these sheets, you follow these easy steps and make your own:
-Save your digital download
-Print out your template sheet
-Use a binder page protector or parchment paper or waxed paper to secure over the template print out
-Secure the design and protector/paper by taping it to the flat, sturdy, and portable surface. It is best to use a large flat portable surface that can be lifted without disturbing or lifting the decorated sheet after icing is piped. Example: Large Wooden cutting boards, Cookie sheets etc.
-If using Royal icing: Pipe the designs with royal icing. We recommend using thicker icing consistency to avoid spillageIf the icing is thinner, it will run outside of the lines. Thicker icing also holds shape (3D) better and tends to dry faster without breakage. Please make sure to make a few extra in case there is breakage. Let the transfers dry for 24 hours. Carefully peel transfers from the backing. We recommend using Parchment paper for easy slide offs
-If using Buttercream: Pipe the designs with buttercream and keep the entire surface in the freezer. You may want to consider smaller trays to fit in freezer space. Freeze for at least 2 hours before using to transfer to desserts. They must be hard at touch. For larger designs, freeze for longer duration
-If using candy melts/chocolate: Pipe the designs with melted candy melts or chocolate. Please make sure to make a few extra in case there is breakage. Let the transfers solidify completely. Candy melts tend to solidify faster than chocolate. Refrigerate before peeling so chocolate doesn't melt with body heat. Carefully peel transfers from the backing. We recommend using Parchment paper for easy removal
-If using fondant: We would only recommend these if you are using very small and tricky designs to do with fondant that can be molded with free hand technique. Example: tiny baby feet. You can use these sheets as a guide for shaping the fondant.
