Have you ever made a Pineapple upside down cake?? This is perfect for summer and fun and easy to make.

I encourage all of my students to ask questions and I will give you tips and tricks to make the experience easy, fun and you will have your own delicious, handmade signature sweets to enjoy at the end of class.

I am a trained Pastry Chef with over 16 years experience and over 4 1/2 years of Teaching over 550 baking classes to students all over the world.

You will learn how to assemble and make the batter for the cake

What we'll do in the class: 

1. You will learn how to prepare your pan for baking
2. You will learn the methods of how to properly mix your batter
3. You will learn how to fully assemble your cake
4. You will learn how to bake your cake and how to know when its done baking
5. You will learn how to flip a cake, yes! You can do it!!
6. You will enjoy the delicious sweet rewards at the end of class and have acquired several new skills that you can apply in future bakes.

Prep Needed:

Please have all of your ingredients measured before class and have all of your materials and equipment out and ready to go. It will also be helpful to have a copy of the recipe available.

Supplies Kit Includes:

  • Offset spatula
  • 8 inch cake circle

Additional ingredients for the cake:

  • 8 oz unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 yolks
  • 2 whole eggs
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp almond extract (optional)
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 1/4 cups all purpose flour

Additional ingredients for the fruit layer:

  • 1 can (20 oz) pineapple slices-drained
  • 8 oz marachino cherries, stems removed
  • 6 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar

Tools Needed at home:

  • 8 inch cake pan
  • Pan Spray
  • Stand mixer or hand mixer with a whip attachment
  • Spatula
  • Plate to flip the cake onto
  • toothpick to test the cake's doneness
